Vote for your favorite movies to be shown June 16, 2018,
through July 21, 2018.

 

Lincoln, NE – The Shoppes at Piedmont is excited to announce “Sunset Cinema,” a new Saturday night movie screening beginning June 16, 2018. This is a six-week program offering free movie screenings every Saturday evening from June 16 through July 21, 2018. Showtime for each movie is approximately 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs, or bean bags to sit on.

 

“It is great to see the amazing support we have received from the Piedmont and Lincoln communities since purchasing and remodeling The Shoppes at Piedmont in 2014,” The Shoppes at Piedmont’s managing partner, Steve Glenn said. “Our goal when purchasing the center was to turn it back into the community focal point it was in 1956.”

 

 “To celebrate The Shoppes at Piedmont’s history, the first movie on June 16th will be ‘Terms of Endearment’. 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the film which was filmed in Lincoln with part of it being filmed at The Shoppes at Piedmont,” Glenn said. “Of course, The Shoppes at Piedmont hopes attendees will stop by the stores in the shopping center before settling in to enjoy the movie.”

 

The Shoppes at Piedmont is asking for Lincoln’s help selecting the free showings which will begin June 16, 2018, and end on July 21, 2018. The movies will be decided by online voting at www.theshoppesatpiedmont.com/sunset-cinema. Voting is currently open and will close at midnight on May 20, 2018.

The Shoppes at Piedmont, 1265 S Cotner Blvd, was the first shopping center of its kind in the City of Lincoln in the 1950’s.  The buildings were built in 1956 and had improvements in 1997. In 2014, it was purchased by an investor group led by Steve Glenn to revitalize the area and make Piedmont the cultural and communal hub of Lincoln once again. The vast enhancements have created a locally owned center that has a dynamic list of shops, a bustling café, and a wonderful restaurant.
